If you've been thinking about remodeling your kitchen, you're probably weighing a lot of factors—budget, timing, how long you'll be without a functional cooking space, and whether the end result will actually be worth the disruption. These are fair concerns, and after completing over 465 renovations across Warren and Hamilton counties, we've learned that honest conversations upfront make for better projects.
At Scheffer Construction, we've been building and renovating homes throughout Greater Cincinnati for more than 30 years. Matt Scheffer personally oversees every project, whether it's a full custom home in Indian Hill or a kitchen update in Mason. Here's what we think you should know before starting your kitchen remodel.
The best kitchen designs start with how you actually use the space. Do you cook big family meals? Host neighbors for coffee? Need room for kids to do homework while you prep dinner? These habits should drive the layout, not the other way around.
We typically spend the first few meetings just talking through your daily routines. From there, we can recommend whether an island makes sense, if you need a larger pantry, or if moving the sink to a different wall would improve your workflow. In one recent Loveland project, we relocated the range to an exterior wall, which allowed for a proper vent hood and opened up counter space that had been cramped for years.
Material selection is where your kitchen starts to take shape. We work with solid wood cabinetry—maple and cherry are popular in this region—because they hold up to decades of use. For countertops, we often recommend quartz for families with young kids since it resists staining better than marble, though natural stone remains a beautiful option for lower-traffic homes.
A typical kitchen remodel in our service area—places like Montgomery, Blue Ash, Milford, or Lebanon—runs about eight to twelve weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. The first two weeks involve rough plumbing and electrical work. Weeks three and four are usually cabinetry installation. Countertop templating and installation happen in week five or six, followed by backsplash, fixtures, and finish work.
We set up a temporary kitchen space so you're not eating takeout for three months. It's a small thing, but it makes a real difference when you're living through a renovation.
Every kitchen we complete comes with a 15-year warranty. That's not a marketing promise—it's our commitment to stand behind the work. If something isn't right, we come back and fix it. Matt's involvement on every job, from initial design through final inspection, means there's accountability at every stage.
We've served families in Maineville, Mariemont, Kings Mills, Anderson, Morrow, and throughout the greater Cincinnati area. Many of our clients come to us after a previous contractor left them with unfinished work or cut corners they didn't notice until later. We do things differently.
If you're considering a kitchen remodel and want to talk through your options, reach out to Scheffer Construction. We're happy to walk through your space, discuss realistic timelines, and give you a clear picture of what your project would involve.
